At the beginning of the project we estimated there were 8,750 households in Am Timan. However, after the medical team conducted a census, we found out that 10,200 households would be part of the mass distribution.
The security threat in Am Timan is relatively low. As long as I have a radio, I am able to walk around the city on my own from 6am till dusk.

By the gate, an old lady lies down in the mud, defeated. Skeleton thin she is wearing a threadbare cotton dress. She has no shoes. She digs in the soil with her scarred hands, so thin you can see her bones. She slowly brings the mud up to her mouth, and eats it.
This lady and the indignity of her situation will be etched in my memory forever.
