Goré – Danamadja camp and mobile clinics
Goré is located in the southwest border of Chad with Central African Republic and has received an influx of around 11,000 refugees/returnees over the last few months.
MSF started an emergency project in January 2014 as the Danamadja camp was established. We operate a small clinic in the camp, water sanitation center, and mobile clinics in surrounding border towns.
Our immediate goal is to prepare for a peak in malaria as the rain season begins. We are a team of five expats (Ivory Coast project coordinator, Central African Republic/Malagasy doctor, French nurse, Burkinabe logistician, and me - Mexican field administrator) and around 30-40 national staff.
"We organized a raffle and dinner for our staff and everybody enjoyed the anxiousness of winning the premium items - mattresses and wheelbarrows - and laughing at those who won that not-so-hot ones."
