Uganda

Fieldset

Uganda has come a long way from its turbulent past. From civil war, dictatorship, human rights abuses, and economic catastrophe, the country has emerged relatively prosperous and stable.

The country has won praise for a vigorous campaign against HIV/AIDS, although the disease remains a major public health issue. It hosts some of the highest numbers of refugees in Africa, most of whom have fled violence in neighbouring South Sudan.

Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) first worked in Uganda in 1986. Our teams have responded to diseases including HIV, and to the needs of refugees.
