Bridging the Mediterranean and Black Seas, Turkey has long been a gateway between the east and west. It shares it southern border with Syria, and millions of Syrian refugees have crossed over into Turkey, fleeing the conflict there.

Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) first worked in Turkey in 1999. Our teams have responded to natural disasters, such as the 2011 earthquake, and provided healthcare for refugees and migrants.
