Sierra Leone

Fieldset

When the ten-year civil war ended in 2002, Sierra Leone began the slow process of recovery. However, the 2014 Ebola crisis has had a devastating impact on the country’s economy, and the education and healthcare systems.

Sierra Leone lies on the west coast of Africa, bordering Guinea and Liberia. It has a diverse environment, ranging from savanna to rainforests.

Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) first worked in Sierra Leone in 1986. Our work in the country has included supporting maternal and child health, and responding to disease, including Ebola.
