Hello, my name is Zoë and I’m a logistician. Before MSF I worked as an overland driver, leading groups of happy tourists through the ever changing landscapes of Africa, Asia and South America. But I want to stay put for a while, so have embarked on my second nine-month mission with MSF.
I’m currently in the Central African Republic, working in a small project in Zémio – a town close to the border of the Democratic Republic of Congo, right out in the east of the country. This enclave is a safe haven in a country currently in turmoil, although HIV is prolific here – as is malaria, the country’s biggest killer.
The project is small, and differs enormously to my first mission in South Sudan where I was surrounded by at least 20 expats a day. Currently, there are three. I arrived in Bangui two weeks ago……
