The continuing challenges of my treatment

I am still having problems with my feet. They ache especially when it’s cold. Other than that I feel much better now.

I finished injections last month, when the doctors told me the news I was over the moon because the injections are no joke, my buttocks had developed lumps inside which made it very difficult for the nurses to inject me, sometimes blood would just ooze out when they were inserting the needle on my bum and I ended up receiving the injections on my thighs. You can just imagine how I felt like when the doctor told me it was my last day.

The MDR-TB drugs really work. I never thought I would live to see this day but I must say that its not easy taking the drugs because they are many. PAS especially was difficult to take, it used to make me vomit but I learnt how to deal with that during the support group discussions. I wish the doctors could come up with a combination drug instead of the 11 drugs that I take every morning.

I am ready to start work and at the moment I am still scouting for a job but so far luck hasn’t been on my side, I hope I will find a job one of these days.

Food is my main challenge after taking the drugs on an empty stomach I feel like someone is cutting my intestines with a razor.

The government still hasn’t done anything and that’s the thing that hurts me the most because I never asked to get MDR-TB.
