I’m an epidemiologist from the Czech Republic, currently working in South Sudan supporting several projects. This is my first assignment with Médecins Sans Frontières / Doctors Without Borders (MSF).
My route to epidemiology has been somewhat unusual. After completing a law degree, I joined the English National Health Service (NHS) to work in the areas of health equity, health service design and performance optimisation. My work experience then naturally led to my specialisation in public health and epidemiology through postgraduate studies.
I found out that there are many overlaps between law and epidemiology – both require an inquisitive mind that uses evidence to advocate for better outcomes. I hope to share this perspective while writing about my MSF experience.
