My name is Sylvia Schaber and I have been working as a doctor in German hospitals for six years.
Even if the daily medical routine, as with many professions, has its ups and downs, I can say with satisfaction: I enjoy working as a doctor. I like the contact with the patients and also enjoy the daily clinical routine with my colleagues.
Over the years, however, the need has come to "escape" the German health care system (at least temporarily) and to gain experience in other parts of the world.
In 2017, I worked on a project with a German NGO in Bangladesh for six weeks. It was an assignment full of exciting experiences that has motivated me to pursue this personal path and to start working on larger-scale projects. My dream: to integrate overseas assignments at regular intervals with my daily work.
My first assignment with MSF is going to the Central African Republic for three months. I'm excited, so I'm looking forward to sharing my experiences with you on this journey.
The only thing left to say: off to Bossangoa!
