Marcela Mendonca - better known as Kuki - is a nurse from Argentina who has worked with Médecins Sans Frontières / Doctors Without Borders (MSF) since 2017.
She has been on assignment in Angola, Bangladesh and most recently in Sierra Leone, where she worked in paediatric care at Kabala District Hospital.
Sierra Leone has one of the highest mother-child mortality rates in the world, as well as a health system that is still recovering following the 2014 West Africa Ebola epidemic.
During her four months in Sierra Leone, Kuki cared for children under five-years-old suffering from conditions such as malaria, tuberculosis and malnutrition.
