I am a midwife from London. I worked in a large NHS Trust as a caseload midwife for three years before applying to work for MSF. I supported women at both home and in hospital, and loved being a midwife in such an inspiring team. Prior to this I worked as a nurse in Canada, where I mainly worked in obstetrics and tuberculosis prevention. I have always dreamed of working for MSF and I am excited to be here in South Sudan for my first mission....despite the heat and scorpions :)
I am working as a midwife with MSF in Batil project in Maban, South Sudan. The camp focuses mainly on maternity and paediatrics, but also offers an Inpatient Theraputic Feeding Centre for treating malnutrition and Accident and Emergency care. Our team includes a medical doctor, medical team leader, mental health officer, nurse and midwife, where we are mainly supporting Sudenese refugees from Sudan and the Mabanese host population.
