I’m Heidi Anguria, a paediatric nurse from Lübeck in Germany. I have been working with MSF for more than 25 years now. When my son left home a few years ago, I gave up my job at the University Hospital in Lübeck in order to only work for MSF from that moment on.

After my posting on the search and rescue ship "Aquarius", I travelled to Lankien in South Sudan. It was my fourth posting in Lankien; I was there for three months. We mostly treated people who were suffering from leishmaniasis – an infectious disease transmitted by sand flies.

In April 2018 I arrived in Bangladesh. I’m working with MSF in Cox's Bazar, an area in the south of the country, in a camp for Rohingya refugees. I am responsible for all vaccination activities including supporting the World Health Organization (WHO)’s vaccination campaign against cholera.

In August 2017, a mass exodus of Rohingya, a Muslim minority from Myanmar, began to arrive Bangladesh. Currently around 800,000 people live in makeshift accommodation in the camp without adequate sanitary facilities. The focus of medical care is the vaccination of nearly one million people in order to prevent possible epidemics.
