There is a lady, who comes every day. She is a member of the VHT - village health team. We are getting on well, but she is complaining that the work of MSF is too tiring, and that she doesn’t have enough time.
The village health teams are not MSF staff but are selected by the Kitgum Government Hospital. They give them training to do the work - in fact according to what she has told me, she has been trained in various fields since 2003.
She is a hard working person, I can see. She is active - when she wants to go somewhere she always comes and informs me, “if I’m delayed tomorrow don’t worry, maybe I have gone somewhere, I will come later” - something like that. I am happy because at least that gives me some time to do some other domestic work here. It’s disappointing when people come earlier - MSF often used to come early and I wouldn’t have had a chance to organise myself. For example, now, I am just back from the market. Even though I have my sister here, I should be in the kitchen preparing the food.
But now, with the village health team lady, I can tell her, “at this time I will not be at home, come again at this time”. So that is how we are going with the treatment.
