I’m a lawyer from South Africa completing my fourth assignment with MSF, this time in South Africa after completing another in Iraq earlier this year.
In South Africa I worked as the project administrator, in an MSF project focussing on treating HIV and TB Eshowe in KwaZulu Natal. I was be responsible for all HR and finance related management in the project.
In Iraq I headed up the Intersectional Administrative Liaison Office where our main responsibility is to interact with the Iraqi authorities on a range of administrative issues to ensure we are compliant with the laws and regulations in Iraq.
Previously I've worked with MSF in Bangladesh and Pakistan, where I was responsible for the financial and human resource management in the projects. These roles entailed supervising staff, doing accounting, budgets and managing finances as well as ensuring the right policies are in place and properly followed. HR roles also mean recruiting and retaining enough staff to achieve the project’s objectives.
