Well the 5th of September was my birthday. I turned 22, who would have thought that I would make it this far? To be quite honest I didn’t think I would come this far.
The XDR-TB hit me so hard there was no hope at all. I’d heard about TB but never in a millions years did it occur to me that I would be a patient from it. I thought it only happens to certain people, people who are also suffering from other diseases but here I am today sharing my story with people all around the world. Really, who would have thought it.
Anyway, on the weekend of my birthday AGAIN doctor JENNY organized a Saturday away. It was me and my Mum, the mother of my friend who is no longer with us and his niece, and Jenny’s friends. It was nice by the Farm house here in Paarl, where wine is made, obviously I had a glass or two. Well they bought me presents, it was so nice, clearly they ARE DOCTORS WITHOUT BORDERS.
Well now I think I’m in the race, almost the on the finishing line. Actually I would say I’m half way there but the point is Yes I’ll finish this race! It doesn’t matter how long it will take, the point is the finishing line, that’s all.

Love you for being so strong, keep fighting, do not look back, only look forward, you are my hero! CT
