About Ferry

Ferry, MSF field coordinator, has just finished one mission in the mountains of the Hauts Plateaux in Congo (DRC) to begin another in south Yemen.

His first mission was in Azerbaijan in 1995 as a logistical coordinator, after which he worked as a financial administrator in the Democratic Republic of Congo, emergency programme manager in Bosnia and as a logistical coordinator in Burundi. All for MSF.

Apart from that, Ferry has had a variety of occupations, including director of a travel agency in The Netherlands, marketing director in Burundi and logistics consultant for a safari company in Tanzania.

In between missions he lives in Arusha, Tanzania.

Following numerous confrontations between armed groups in the Hauts Plateaux of Uvira, and to help the many victims displaced by the fighting, MSF began providing emergency relief in February 2010. Through this project, MSF supported six health centres and made referrals to the hospitals in Uvira and Bukavu. MSF teams also set up two mobile clinics that can be deployed rapidly to reach people displaced by fighting. The MSF teams provide survivors of sexual violence with medical and psychological care.
