Athong,41, is originally from Nagaland, India, but has lived in Manipur for the past five years. He was a driver but had to quit his job as his health deteriorated after he was diagnosed with TB in 2005. After failing to complete his TB treatment on several occasions, he was diagnosed with MDR–TB last year.
He completed his final 12 months of treatment with Médecins Sans Frontières in March 2013 in Churachandpur, a town in Manipur, where he lives with his aunt’s family. Both Nagaland and Manipur are states in North East India. Athong records his original posts in Hindi and Thadou/Kuki.
