Haiti is a Caribbean country that lies between Cuba and the Dominican Republic. Its location makes it prone to natural disasters, including hurricanes and earthquakes. The country has also faced history of political instability and conflict. It is among the poorest nations in the Western Hemisphere.

Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) first worked in Haiti in 1991. Our work has responded to natural disasters, maternal healthcare needs, social violence and diseases including cholera.
