Bangladesh

Fieldset

Bangladesh is one of the world’s most densely populated countries. A low-lying country prone to flooding and tropical cyclones, poverty is widespread, although the economy is growing.

In Cox’s Bazar, a region in the east of the country, Bangladesh is hosting hundreds of thousands of Rohingya refugees. They are living in precarious conditions having fled violence in neighbouring Myanmar.

Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) first worked in Bangladesh in 1985. In addition to our work with Rohingya refugees, we have provided vital treatment to other vulnerable groups, such as young women and people living in urban slums.
